Meet Your Farmer, Jeff Klinge, of Northeast Iowa
For fifth generation farmer, Jeff Klinge, converting over to organic farming was not a novelty but a way to keep farming the land full time, giving him an independence from the high costs of pesticides and sprays. An added bonus was that not only was it good for the land, but also good for his conscience and organic farming gave him the chance to farm his way without relying on federal subsidies. In fact, Klinge has become an advocate for doing away with the subsidy program, lobbying for a reduction to $50,000 per farmer.
